Karen Sue (Rice) Jones

October 12, 1942 – October 20, 2022

Karen Sue (Rice) Jones, 80, Celina, Tenn., and formerly of Sheridan, joined her late husband Gene on Thursday, October 20, 2022. She was born on October 12, 1942, to the late Bill and Viola (Showalter) Rice in Noblesville.

Karen enjoyed talking and meeting new people. She worked as a cashier at Walmart. When her husband Gene retired, they decided to move on the river in Celina, Tenn., where the two them would look forward to fishing together.

Karen was quite the bowler; she and her daughter Gayla bowled in leagues. She looked forward to their bowling nights. Karen loved playing softball and she continued to play in adult leagues for many years. There wasn’t a position she hadn’t played.

She enjoyed the outdoors and she and Gene would look forward to camping with their family and friends. She also loved to cook, and her family would look forward to the meals she would prepare. When Karen was home, she could be found watching westerns and game shows.

The most important thing to Karen was her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she loved very much and would look forward to seeing them. She leaves behind her children, Gayla (Terry) Hart and Bryan (Erin) Jones. She was a loving grandma to Joshua, Taylor, Jacob, Craig (Cortney), Brooke, Laura, Danielle and Dawn. Karen was a proud great-grandmother to 18 and a great-great-grandmother to one. She was a devoted sister to David Jones.

Preceding Karen in death is her husband, William “Gene” Jones in 2022; her daughter, Rebecca L. Jones in 2022; her two sons, Michael Jones in 1989 and Rick Jones in 2016; and her two beloved grandsons, Matthew Jacob and Casey. She is also preceded in death by her three brothers, Stephen Rice, Earl Jones, and George Jones, along with her sister, Judy Brown.
