September 9, 1962 – August 19, 2026
Vannessa Marie Miller, 63, Noblesville, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at her home after an extended illness.
She was born on September 9, 1962, to Don and Theresa (Garza) Thomas and was raised in Wilkinson, Ind. She graduated from Eastern Hancock High School in 1981 and went on to earn her nursing degree from Anderson College (now Anderson University).
Vannessa was a nurse for her entire adult life, maintaining her license long after retirement, and never stopped admiring a good vein. She worked for many years at St. John’s Medical Center in Anderson, where she eventually managed the OB floor. She also loved working for Dr. Ross Egger at Middletown Family Practice and, most proudly, taught aspiring nurses at Harrison College in Anderson.
She had expertly perfected no-bake cookies early in motherhood and always showed her kind spirit in the way she “accidentally” left plenty of drippings for kids and grandkids on the wax paper. She enjoyed going on cruises and spending time with her grandchildren.
Most meaningful of all were her final years, when her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ became the center of her life. She devoted herself to studying His Word, serving Him, and growing in a faith that brought purpose and meaning to her final chapter. She was a faithful member of Northview Church, where she rededicated herself through baptism alongside her husband and two of her grandchildren in 2024. She dearly loved her Northview Noblesville campus family and SOAP Bible study group.
Vannessa is survived by her protector, best friend, and loving husband of 16 years, Charles Miller; sons, Steven (Rachelle) Thompson, Adam Thompson, Andrew Thompson, and Charles (Rebecca) Miller; daughter, Natasha Miller; sister, Debra (Greg) Meiring; and 13 grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Glenn Miller; and her sister, Rebecca Thomas.
A celebration of Vannessa’s life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Northview Church’s Westfield campus, with Pastor Joseph Antley officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather beginning at 1 p.m., with the celebration of life service beginning at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor toward flood relief at Northview Church (northviewchurch.us/dollarclub) or to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org).
