Assessor’s Office encourages property owners to file State Form 137R
Hamilton County property owners whose homes or properties were significantly damaged by recent flooding may be eligible for property tax relief through the State of Indiana’s disaster relief process.
Property owners must complete State Form 137R and submit it to the Hamilton County Assessor’s Office no later than Dec. 31, 2027. Any adjustment would apply to the Jan. 1, 2026 assessment date, payable in 2027.

“We know many property owners are dealing with significant damage, and we want to make sure they understand what options may be available to them,” Hamilton County Assessor Kevin Poore said. “Each property will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, so we encourage anyone who believes they may qualify to contact our office with questions and submit the required form.”
Properties with severe damage will require a site inspection as part of the review process. State law does not provide relief for current-year property taxes unless a parcel has been permanently cut off and is no longer accessible by land due to a river changing course.
Property owners with questions about Form 137R should call the Hamilton County Assessor’s Office at (317) 776-9617.
