The Hamilton Heights baseball team got back into Hoosier Conference action on Tuesday with a visit from their neighbors from the north, the Tipton Blue Devils.
The Huskies snapped a three-game losing skid that produced just two runs to their opponents’ 29. Heights edged Tipton 5-4.
The Blue Devils scored one in the first on a balk from Dillon Pitts.
Cy Mason got the second off right with a double. Mason scored on a triple by Kaden Lawson to go up 1-0. Jackson Mikesell walked. Then, both he and Lawson ran home on an AJ Flanagan base hit to left and it was 3-0.
PJ Wright hit the second triple of the inning, scoring Flanagan and Austin Kappes for the 5-1 advantage through two.
Tipton scored three more in the top of the third to cut their deficit to 5-4.
The combo of Pitts and Owen Hughes on the mound struck out nine together on the way to holding off the Blue Devils for the win.
The series between Heights (4-5, 1-2 Hoosier) heads to Tipton (1-8, 0-5 Hoosier) tonight at 5:30 p.m.
