The Hamilton Heights softball coaches couldn’t have asked for a better game out of their team on Tuesday night. Heights extended its winning streak to three games and has scored 49 runs in its last three to its opponents’ nine.

It was the first of a two-game set with Tipton, which resulted in a 14-0 rout of the visiting Blue Devils.

Six runs in the first and five in the second put the game out of reach right away for the Huskies for an 11-0 score through two.

Heights scored two more in the third and another in the fourth that would account for the final score.

Hannah Dent, Kaitlyn Schakel and Melanee Forrester all three had two-hit nights. Schakel led all with three RBIs and Lily Cash two and the Huskies pounded out 13 hits in 28 at-bats.

Heather Crays grabbed the win with seven strikeouts in five innings. Crays one-hit the Blue Devils and yielded just two walks.

Hamilton Heights (8-1, 2-1 Hoosier) and Tipton (3-7, 1-5 Hoosier) shift north for game two on the Blue Devils’ home field tonight at 5:30 p.m.
