Last week, the City of Tipton announced its membership in the Central Indiana Regional Development Authority (CIRDA) has officially been approved, making Tipton the 31st community in central Indiana to join the regional alliance.

Membership aligns Tipton with neighboring cities to pursue coordinated, region-wide efforts that support economic growth, infrastructure investment and quality of place.

Founded through bipartisan state legislation, CIRDA brings together municipal, private, and nonprofit partners to plan and invest at a regional scale. By joining, Tipton positions itself to collaborate on competitive funding opportunities and to advance projects that aim to benefit residents, employers, and the broader region.

Why Tipton is joining CIRDA

By joining CIRDA, Tipton gains a proactive seat at the table where key regional economic and infrastructure conversations are happening. This membership also allows Tipton to contribute to creating diverse and complementary strategies that strengthen the region’s shared vision.

Schmicker

“Tipton has recognized that our future growth is coming from the south, and this membership is the first actionable step we have taken to proactively join those regional conversations,” Mayor Kegan Schmicker said. “Coupled with our decision to rebuild the city’s planning department, it reflects our commitment to thoughtful, strategic efforts that ensure growth is recognized, planned and ultimately strengthens the Tipton community.”

Areas of Regional Collaboration

  • Infrastructure and site readiness to support business retention, expansion, and new investment.
  • Housing and quality of place that strengthen neighborhoods and downtown vitality.
  • Transportation and connectivity that improve the movement of people, goods, and services.
  • Workforce and talent partnerships that meet the needs of local employers.
