William Matthew Horgus

January 12, 1983 – July 20, 2026

William Matthew Horgus, affectionately known as Will, was born on January 12, 1983, in Gunnison, Colo. On July 20, 2026, he departed from this world.

William was a man of unparalleled loyalty and compassion, always putting the needs of others before his own. His generosity extended beyond his family and friends, reaching into his professional life where he was a reliable and respected figure.

Raised in Colorado until the age of three, Will then moved to Minnesota with his mother, Elizabeth. A devoted son, he was the epitome of a loving family man. He was also a loving father to his son, Sebastian, whom he treasured above all else. Despite his divorce, he did his best to be in his son’s life, demonstrating a love that was both unconditional and inspiring.

William’s work ethic was evident in his career in construction and his service to the country. He was a dependable soldier who served two tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom, earning him accolades and the deep respect of his comrades. His love for building and crafting extended into his hobbies; he found joy working at the woodshop in Arcadia and loved spending time with his friends.

In addition to his son Sebastian, William is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Dekoster, and his father, William (Karen) Horgus. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lawrence and Rita Perry.

Will’s wishes were to be cremated, and his care is under the direction of Hartley-Dunnichay Funeral Homes in Cicero. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Ind.
