Sheridan Lions Club members met recently to finalize plans for what’s expected to be one of the community’s best Fourth of July Parades ever.
The first order of business was selecting the Parade’s Grand Marshal, and the pick was an easy one.
Jaidlin Bradshaw will headline this year’s Parade. She was a popular and overwhelmingly choice by the local Lions, who organize and sponsor the annual Parade.
Bradshaw coached Sheridan’s Lady Blackhawks to a 25-2 record during the 2024-25 basketball season. She also coached her 100th victory at SHS and directed the local ladies to sectional and regional championships for the second consecutive season. This accomplishment puts her in unique company as she, Larry Hobbs (boys basketball), and Larry “Bud” Wright (football) are the only coaches to win consecutive regionals in the long history of athletics at Sheridan High School.
Parade entries can begin assembling at 9 a.m. on the morning of the Fourth in the Sheridan High School parking lot, located at 24795 Hinesley Road. The Parade will begin at 10 a.m.
The Mustang Club is expected to participate along with perhaps the largest display of farm tractors both old and new in the country. A new wrinkle is Waitt Grain coming onboard for the first time as sponsor for all the tractor entries, handing out hats, rain gauges and other items to those who enter.
The Lions will award $50 cash prizes to these parade entries: Tractor, Golf Cart, Automobile, Bicycle, and Miscellaneous. The award-winning float will take home $150.
The Lions also recognize the SHS band with a monetary donation for its Parade participation.
The Sheridan Lions Club is always on the lookout for new members, so contact a local Lion if you’d like to get involved in serving Sheridan.
