Sheridan High School (SHS) seniors have been keeping busy over the last couple of weeks as they are closing their high school chapter of their life.
The week before final exams, notably called Senior Week, started off with students sharing their senior boards with faculty and students on Tuesday, May 13. For the past month, seniors have been creating a senior book that recounts all of their high school experiences. Along with the book, students created a three-panel display board that included countless photographs of their childhood, friends, family, and things that the students love.

On Tuesday, students from the high school were able to go down and look at all of the boards and reminisce on their experiences together.
On Tuesday evening, seniors were then honored at the Senior Awards Night. Many were given scholarships or other awards. Among the graduating class, hundreds of thousands of local scholarship dollars were awarded, not including scholarships from colleges and universities. Congratulations to those seniors who worked hard to gain those accomplishments and achievements.
Then on Wednesday, May 14, the soon-to-be graduating Class of 2025 made the trip to Sheridan Elementary School to share a Graduation Walk with the students graduating from Kindergarten this spring. The students paired up and traveled through halls lined with elementary students and staff. Everyone was full of smiles and excitement. As they walked the halls they were accompanied by cheers, high fives, applause and even a few tears of joy. It was a special and memorable moment for the members of the Class of 2025 and the Class of 2037.

SHS senior Olivia Weddington said, “The Kindergarten walk was very fun. The little girl that I was with held my hand the whole time.” Weddington will attend IU Indianapolis and the Herron School of Art and Design for graphic design and marketing.
Finally, on Thursday, May 15, the SHS Class of 2025 spent the morning giving back to the community which has supported them during their educational career. Soon-to-be graduates traveled to the three Sheridan Parks: Veterans Park, Community Park, and Biddle Memorial Park where they helped with park cleanup. Students picked up sticks, pulled weeds, spread mulch, and so much more, demonstrating service to the community.

After the work session was complete, the Class of 2025 had a picnic lunch and enjoyed a “last recess” at the park.
“It was such a fun experience and honor to give back to the community that has supported us for so long,” senior Pablo Mendez said. “If given the opportunity I would love to do it again.” He will attend Universidad de Puerto Rico – Arecibo and studying communications.
Congratulations to the Class of 2025 and good luck on your future endeavors!
