Hamilton Heights School Resource Officers (SRO) Josh Ireland, Kevin Neal, and Jon Tindall have been named as the Husky Heroes for the months of November and December 2024.
For nearly two decades, Hamilton Heights has had onsite SROs, and for most of those years, each building has had a dedicated SRO.
Since then, these dedicated professionals have become woven into the fabric of the school culture at Heights. They have made countless connections with students, staff, and families that have a positive impact on student success. Officers Ireland, Neal, and Tindall work diligently to serve and protect while being positive role models in the process. Their presence not only ensures safety but also instills a sense of security and trust among students, parents, and educators.
Among the comments shared about Hamilton Heights SROs included the following:
“Appreciation for leading the safety and well-being of staff and students, helping with the flow of school bus traffic in the mornings, their presence at extra-curricular activities and events, involvement in specialty programs, as mentors and role models, and most of all, they serve, educate, protect, and help make our campus a safer place to learn and grow.”
“This award means a lot to me,” said Officer Josh Ireland, who grew up in this community and attended Hamilton Heights. “I love my role at the schools, connecting with the students and staff, being a positive role model and link between school and law enforcement. “Being able to build a relationship and trust with the students and staff is a priority and keeps me motivated. I hope that each student or staff member knows that they can come to me with anything, and I will do my best to help them.”
“It is an honor to be recognized as a Husky Hero, considering I work alongside teachers and staff who are truly the heroes at this school,” said Officer Kevin Neal. “I am motivated by the positive impact of my interactions with the student body. When I experience one of those more difficult days at work, this will be a reminder of why we (staff, teachers, SROs) do what we do.”
Officer Tindal agrees.
“To know that members of our great school and community see our efforts and role in keeping HHSC a safe and welcoming place to learn and grow means a lot. Every day brings new challenges, needs, and the opportunity to make a positive difference for someone in some way. I believe this award will impact me moving forward as a reminder that our position as an SRO is important to our community and will help me to continue however I can to make a difference.”
Officer Ireland added, “This award helps confirm that what I have been doing for 13 years is making a difference and I will strive to get better each day. I learn new things from the students every day that I use in the future, the SRO job is always fun and rewarding. I feel very lucky to be in my position to serve.”
