March 28, 1948 – October 20, 2024
James Leon Wallace, 76, passed away on Sunday evening, October 20, 2024, at his home in Noblesville. Born on March 28, 1948, in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late Lloyd Leon and Mary Catherine (Hines) Wallace.
Jimmy never liked being cooped up inside. He loved to be out and about; a ride through the country was all it took to put a better spin on the day. He loved spending quality time on the farm. When he was young, he loved riding his tricycles and pedal tractors (IH of course). As he got older, he upgraded to the adult sized tricycle (still with the same enthusiasm for riding). He eventually began riding along in the grain truck, which was an old school bus that had been converted into a grain truck. Nobody else in the family would ride in that thing except for Jimmy; it was always his first choice. As the years went on, he discovered the joys of riding along in the pickup truck, running parts, picking up supplies, and most importantly, heading to McDonald’s for a hamburger and a Pepsi – the well-deserved treat upon completion the day’s activities.
His memory was as sharp as a tack, especially when it came to directions. He could always tell which way to get to the farm, which way to get home, and of course, which way to McDonald’s. If you started off in the wrong direction, Jimmy would let you know.
James is survived by his two sisters, Peggy Jean Robinson of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Cathy Sue Stowe of Huntsville, Ala.; two brothers, Vance Leroy Wallace of Sheridan, and Keith Allen Wallace (Nancy) of Westfield; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Leon and Mary Catherine (Hines) Wallace; sister-in-law, Susie Wallace; and brother-in-law, Cecil Robinson.
Graveside services were held Monday, October 28, 2024, at Crown View Cemetery in Sheridan. Pastor VJ Stover officiated.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kercheval Funeral Home of Sheridan, Indiana.
