Boys soccer: Huskies win first round of conference tourney

The Hamilton Heights boys soccer team won its first-round game in the Hoosier Conference tournament on Tuesday.

The Huskies beat Benton Central 5-1; coach Collin Luckey said his team “played a complete team game.” Bryce Hutcherson scored two goals for Heights, with Elliot Speckman, Carson Felger and Noah Cordero all scoring one.

“A few other players with notable performances were Jack Joray, Ethan Colvin, Matthew Lynas, Mason Chaplin and Ethan Miller,” said Luckey. “Jack Joray and Mason Chaplin made their varsity debuts and did well.”

The Huskies play West Lafayette today in the semifinals.

Sheridan played to a 1-1 tie with Bethesda Christian on Monday.

The Blackhawks are 3-1-1 and play a Hoosier Heartland Conference game this afternoon at Tri-Central.
