Merchants Bank, based in Carmel, announces that the Indiana district of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has honored the Merchants SBA team with the Bronze Award for its Indiana community lending efforts in 2023.
Recognized now as the third most active Indiana community lender in 2023, Merchants made major contributions to the economic development in Indianapolis throughout the past year. The Bronze Award for outstanding community lending was presented to Merchants’ SBA team by SBA Indiana District Director Stacy Poynter.

The award adds to a list of notable achievements for the Merchants SBA team in 2023 as the division was recently ranked by Coleman Report as Indiana’s No. 5 Top 7(a) Lender. The team secured a total of 29 loans amounting to more than $22.5 million for the 2023 fiscal year, supporting a variety of local small businesses, including an Indianapolis motor company, development group, minority-owned bridal shop and more.
