Sheridan picked up a hard-fought Hoosier Heartland Conference victory on Friday, beating Carroll 75-72 at Larry Hobbs Hall.
The Cougars led 18-17 after one quarter. Tyler Garner kept the Blackhawks in the game with 11 points in the opening period. Carroll edged its lead up slightly in the second period to go up 34-31 at halftime.
But Sheridan came back, outscoring the Cougars 19-11 in the third quarter for a 50-45 lead. Six different ‘Hawks players scored, including five points from Caleb Wright. Carroll outscored Sheridan 27-25 in the fourth quarter, but Trey Page poured in 13 points to help clinch the victory; Page made two 3-pointers and went 5 of 6 from the free-throw line.
Four Blackhawks reached double figures in scoring. Wright totaled 18 points, with Garner and Page both adding 17. DeCraene finished with a double-double of 11 assists and 10 points. Damon Winston collected 10 rebounds to go with nine points and two blocked shots.
Sheridan is 4-3 in conference play and 11-6 overall. The Blackhawks host Delphi on Tuesday for their last HHC game of the season.
