Carmel’s girls reached the 10-win mark on Tuesday as they beat Cathedral 38-34 at the Eric Clark Activity Center.
The first quarter was all defense, as the two teams played to a 4-4 tie. Taryn Fisher had all four of the Greyhounds’ points. Carmel got its offense going in the second quarter, taking a 15-11 lead by halftime.
In the third period, Megan Hamm led the way by scoring six points. That helped the ‘Hounds to a 27-17 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Irish made a little comeback in that period, but Carmel clinched the game from the free-throw line, making 8 of 10 to secure the win.
Hamm scored 13 points to pace the Greyhounds, with Izzy Shepherd scoring nine. Fisher and Mackenzie Woods both had eight points. Jamie Elliott led the rebounds with seven. Fisher made four steals and Lauren Perry had two blocked shots.
Carmel is 10-11 and hosts Ben Davis on Friday to finish the regular season.
