After two close losses in a row, the Westfield girls were ready for a win.
They got one Tuesday at Ben Davis. The Shamrocks got past the Giants 53-50, breaking a four-game skid and finishing the regular season on a positive note.
Westfield led 13-10 after one quarter, then went up 26-19 at halftime. Reagan Lorenzen helped out with eight points in the first period, then added another four in the second quarter for 12 first-half points.
Ben Davis inched its way back into the game in the second half, but the ‘Rocks were able to hold the Giants off. Ellie Kelleher scored eight points in the fourth quarter, making all four of her free throws during that time.
Kelleher finished with 15 points, while Lorenzen scored 14. Lindsey Van Dyke had 10 points, scoring six in the third quarter.
Westfield completed its regular season 13-9. The ‘Rocks play in the first game of Sectional 8 next Tuesday at 6 p.m., taking on host Hamilton Southeastern.
