Heart Hike returns Feb. 10 to Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve

Just before Valentine’s Day and in the midst of American Heart Month, the Heart Hike at Ritchey Woods is set for Feb. 10.

Get outside and take this annual community hike with your neighbors while finding images on the nature preserve’s trails that show heart shapes in nature. Stick around after your hike to warm up by the campfire at the Ritchey Woods shelter.

During your short, self-led hike, choose your trail through the nature preserve property and look for images of hearts that are naturally occurring in nature that we’ve placed along the walking trails, like a heart-shaped tree trunk, birds forming their wings into a heart shape, and more.

This event is free and will run from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10. No registration required. All are welcome.

Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve is located at 10410 Hague Road, Fishers.

About American Heart Month
The federally designated event reinforces the importance of heart health and the need for more research, with a reminder to get families, friends and communities involved. It’s a tradition that’s over half a century strong. The first proclamation was issued by President Lyndon B. Johnson in February 1964, nine years after he had a heart attack. Since then, the president has annually declared February American Heart Month.
