Kathie Jo Bowman

May 15, 1950 – November 26, 2023

Kathie Jo Bowman, 73, Cicero, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 26, 2023, surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Kathie was born on May 15, 1950, to Garth and Evelyn Ferguson. She attended Ben Davis High School where she met her best friend, Gregory P. Bowman. Kathie and Greg married on September 7, 1968. They were blessed with a son, Jeffery P. Bowman, and a daughter, Jennifer J. Bowman Gellinger. Kathie and Greg’s marriage was one of true love and devotion to each other and to their cherished family.

In the early 1970s, Kathie and Greg moved to Cicero and quickly fell in love with the welcoming community. They opened Pizza Heaven, helped establish the Little Husky Festival, and in recent years, devoted significant time to the Lights Over Morse Lake Festival. Kathie worked for over 30 years at Janus Developmental Services as the Director of Job Placement helping individuals with disabilities find employment within the community. Many of her clients, as well as their families, continue to feel the positive impact of Kathie’s tireless work ethic and kind soul. Her dedication to bettering the lives of those in the Cicero community will be tremendously missed.

Kathie’s commitment to family was remarkable. She loved being surrounded by her five sisters (Marcia, Ronda, Karen, Cheryl, and Shelia) and her brother (Troy), her husband, children, and precious grandchildren (Grace, Greta, and Bailey). Her greatest joy was their happiness. Family gatherings at her Cicero home were filled with laughter, love, and endless storytelling. She had a way of making people feel special when they were with her. Indeed, a smile and hug from Aunt Kathie was all it took to make any of her nieces and nephews feel good and blessed to be around her. The beautiful spirit of Kathie lives in the hearts of her entire family. They are forever grateful.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero. (317) 984-3614. Condolences may be sent to hartleyfuneralhomes.com.
