Stuart Alyn “Al” McConnaha

October 13, 1931 – September 14, 2023

Al McConnaha, 91, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, Ind. He was born in Boone County, Ind., on October 13, 1931, a son of the late W. E. McConnaha, Sr. and Mary Gladys (McKinzie) McConnaha.

On June 6, 1959, he was united in marriage to Margaret “Margi” (Ullman) McConnaha at the First Presbyterian Church in Lebanon; she survives.

Al was a 1949 graduate of Lebanon High School and 1958 graduate of Indiana University. Between his schooling, he served his country honorably as a medic in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955.

Al was extremely proud of his hometown and was involved in many community activities throughout the years. He was active in Buffy, Jaycees, Sertoma, 4th of July Committee, and the list goes on. Al served many years at the local and state levels of Lions. He served 13 years on the Indiana Lions Speech & Hearing Committee and was the District Governor in 2006 and 2007. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lebanon, where he served as Elder, Deacon, and on many committees. Al also served the community as a City Council member and on the Center Township Advisory Board.

Al was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. His hobbies were photography, reading, sleeping in his favorite chair, and listening to classical music.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Margi McConnaha; two children, Kellie (Todd) Johnson of North Canton, Ohio, and Michael (Rhonda) McConnaha of Lebanon; five grandchildren, Megan (Matt) Woodard, Katie (Logan) Pennington, Ryan McConnaha, Ben Johnson, and Kam Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Hadley Woodard, Hazel Woodard, Wilder Pennington, Waverly Pennington, and Walker Pennington; brother, James (Janice) McConnaha of Merritt Island, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Powell and Patricia Bell; and brother, Willis E. “Mac” McConnaha, Jr.

Funeral services are planned for noon on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at the Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.

Memorials may be directed in Al’s memory to the Lebanon First Presbyterian Church or Indiana Lions Speech & Hearing Inc.
