Hamilton Heights Elementary School (HHES) students recently enjoyed a special treat at its Touch-a-Truck Day that was aimed at educating children about the different types of trucks and motorized equipment that are seen in and serve the community.

This fun-filled day closed out the session celebration for the Early Childhood Summer Enrichment Program for Hamilton Heights, Sheridan, and Frankton/Lapel students. Early Childhood students and Little Huskies Preschool students attended. In collaboration with community partners and local families, the event sparked interest and awe among students who had a chance to see, touch, and even sit behind the utility trucks, emergency vehicles, farming semi, truck, and tractors, school bus, sportscar, Jeep, snowplow, gator, and mower set up outside the elementary school parking lot.

“This interactive experience provides kids with knowledge, great memories, and may even inspire interest in a career,” HHES Principal Julie Griffey said. “It connects the kids to the role and function of the trucks, cars, and equipment they may see on the roads and in the fields.

Special thanks to the companies, organizations, and families who participated this year, including Powers Septic Services, Jessup Farms, Swackhamer Farms, the Russell and Wilson families, Hamilton Heights School Corporation, and Jackson Township Fire Department.
