The Fourth of July will put the wraps on a busy month of June for the Sheridan Lions Club.

After teaming with the Sheridan Fire Department to serve more than 450 people at the annual Fish Fry the first Saturday of the month, the local Lions began preparation for the parade it has sponsored for several years.

This year’s parade, which annually attracts a large throng of followers along the parade route, begins at 10 a.m. from the Sheridan High School parking lot and concludes at Biddle Memorial Park, where food and day-long activities are planned. Independence Day in Sheridan  concludes at sundown with the fireworks show.

The Lions selected Ron Stone and Steve Martin to serve as Parade Grand Marshals. Both men are instrumental in preserving Sheridan’s history and promoting the community during Hamilton County’s Bicentennial Celebration taking place this year. In fact, the county’s bicentennial celebration is the theme of this year’s parade.

Parade entries should arrive at the high school by 9 a.m. and there is no cost to join. The Lions Club will award $150 prizes in six categories: Golf Carts, Bicycles, Floats, Classic Cars/Trucks, Tractors, and Miscellaneous.
