At the November Hamilton East Public Library board meeting held Thursday evening, Library Director/Chief Executive Officer Edra Waterman officially announced that after 12 years of service, her last day at HEPL will be Dec. 22.
Waterman shared that she has accepted the Library Director position at the Anderson Public Library and will begin on Jan. 8, 2024.
“While I am sad to leave our HEPL team and the wonderful people we serve, I have a long-standing and deep connection to Anderson Public Library and the Anderson community,” Waterman said. “When the opportunity presented itself to devote my energy and expertise to serving my neighbors and making a difference by ensuring the best possible library service for all, I felt I had to pursue it. I appreciate the support the Fishers and Noblesville communities have shown HEPL in my time here, and I am so very proud of what we have accomplished together. It has been my privilege to lead such a wonderful team.”
In her tenure at the Hamilton East Public Library, Waterman oversaw many significant projects, including the Ignite Studio maker space, Seed Library, expanded community outreach, world-renowned author visits, renovations to improve access to all, and much more.
The Hamilton East Public Library community thanks Waterman for her contributions both to the community and the library system over the years and wishes her the best in her next steps.
