David Allen Wright

October 25, 1946 – March 19, 2026

David Allen Wright, born to Peggy Joan Stanley and Paul Franklin Wright on October 25, 1946, passed away on March 19, 2026.

In all he did, David had a devout devotion to God. He ran cross country for Jackson Central High School and enjoyed attending all sporting events. David was also an avid reader, collecting hundreds of hardbound classics. He went on to graduate from Indiana University with a degree in Education. He taught English in high school for several years before switching to Counseling. He was a drug addiction counselor for the remainder of his career.

David was a loving father and grandfather, who always tried to brighten someone’s day by saying kind words and making little jokes. Even in his final days, David made it a point to uplift his nurses with kindness. He truly had the kind heart of a teacher, always wanting to help others, including those in need. David was a survivor, facing serious illnesses over the last 10 years with courage and determination.

David is survived by his loving daughter, Patricia Tallent, and son, Kevin Wright. The love he had for his children was matched only by the adoration he held for his grandchildren, Alexis and Peyton Tallent, and Allyssah Wright. David was the cherished sibling of Cindie (Joe) Million, Mickie (Barry) Kerfoot, Paula (Robert) Adair, and Robert (Peggy) Wright. He had several nieces and nephews whom he loved spending hours playing games with, especially his favorite game, “Lions, Tigers, and Bears.” He leaves behind a legacy of love and affection that will be carried forward by his family and the countless lives he touched.

David was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Robert Stringer, and siblings Patricia Bess and Richard Wright. His spirit will forever be kept alive in the hearts of his family. As writer Thomas Campbell penned, “To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.” David’s memory will continue to inspire all those who knew him, a testament to his enduring impact.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at Arcadia Brethren Cemetery, 8989 E. 266th St., Arcadia, with Pastor Ben Poole officiating.

David’s life was a testament to his strength and resilience, filled with moments of joy, triumphs, and an enduring love for his family. His services are under the direction of Hartley-Dunnichay Funeral Homes in Cicero.

In celebrating David’s life, we invite you to share your memories and photographs on his memorial page. These moments of reminiscence, laughter, and love will serve as a beautiful tribute to a life well-lived and a man dearly loved. Let us remember David Wright not with sadness, but with the joy and warmth he brought into our lives. His story is not just one of the end, but of a life filled with love, resilience, and enduring strength.
