Wanda Edith Green

April 17, 1933 – October 11, 2022

Wanda was born April 17, 1933, in Noblesville to Earmel E. and Muriel M. Wallace. Muriel passed away when Wanda was four years old and she was further raised by her stepmother, Mildred L. Wallace.

She married Willis “Wid” Neal Green on February 18, 1955, in a ceremony at her father’s home. They were married for 67 years until his passing earlier this spring. They spent the majority of their married years in Strawtown on their farm ‘Green Acres’ at the home they built there. Wanda joined her beloved husband, her parents, and her stepmother with her Heavenly Father on October 11, 2022, while living at Five Star Residences of Noblesville.

Wid and Wanda were blessed with two sons, David (Deborah) Green and Dale “Buck” (Barbara) Green; five grandchildren, Kelly (Michael) Poulin, Joshua (Ashley) Green, Kyle (Susan) Green, Jamie (Jon) Meinert and Julie Green; plus eight great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Brock, Elizabeth, Weston, Gabriel, Joanna, Rosie, and Emily.

Additional survivors include her brother, Allen “Shorty” (Ann) Wallace; a sister, Linda (Dan) Stewart; and several nieces and nephews.

Wanda graduated from Noblesville High School in 1951. She had worked at Perry Davis Furniture, the FSSA Office in Noblesville, and McMahon/Alliant Foodservice. She also worked on their farm gardening, raising cattle and numerous pets. She attended White River Christian Church and Omega Christian Church.

Wanda loved her grandkids and great-grandkids, walking in the woods, animals and wildlife that included cats, cows, raccoons, butterflies, hummingbirds that were her favorites, Friday laundry days, Harlan romance novels, family gatherings, cooking, crossword puzzles, twilight drives with Wid and swinging on the front porch (usually enjoying an ice cream bar). Wid and Wanda were regulars at Jim Dandy Restaurant in Noblesville. They also enjoyed vacationing in Florida, taking cruises, and visiting Branson.

Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero. Funeral services will be held at noon with Pastor Neal Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Carey Cemetery near Noblesville.

  1. People live in Noblesville that want Noblesville to stay Noblesville. We could’ve moved to some of the other cities if we had wished that that’s what Noblesville was like. You’re taking away all of the history and the historic events in historic places that should be kept alive not thrown away.
