The University girls hit the road Tuesday night, dropping a 60-43 contest to Class 3A No. 6 Western.
Leah Norvell led University with 20 points, 19 in the first half. Charlotte Conyers came off the bench to score ten points and Anyah Jordan added nine.
The Trailblazers never led in the game, though they tied the score at 12 at the end of the first period on a Mack Feeney rebound basket with four seconds left. The game was tied again at 14 and at 16 both times on baskets by Norvell. Western took a timeout and came out and scored six points in 45 seconds, forcing two University turnovers. The Panthers led the rest of the way.
Conyers had a team-high seven rebounds with Feeney pulling down six missed shots and Norvell five.
Mackenize York led Western with 18 points. The Panthers are 14-1.
University falls to 7-7 on the season. The Trailblazers are next in action Saturday at Covenant Christian in the middle game of a tripleheader. The boys junior varsity game begins at 4:30 p.m. to be followed by the girls varsity and boys varsity contests
