The Township Line Road bridge over Interstate 465 just south of 96th Street is now closed for a replacement project in Indianapolis.
The new bridge will support two 12-foot travel lanes with a multi-use path. Motorists should use the official detour during construction, which will follow 86th Street to Ditch Road for northbound travel and 96th Street to Ditch Road for southbound travel.
The bridge is scheduled to reopen next spring. Additional information about the project is available at this link.
I-465 lane restrictions
Overnight lane closures are in place this week on I-465 eastbound and westbound in the vicinity of the bridge for demolition work. A single lane will close nightly at 9 p.m. with a second lane closing around 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning.
Bridge demolition is expected to continue through the end of July, weather permitting.
INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
