Sheridan Lions Club
The Sheridan Lions Club members closed out a busy December by enjoying a Christmas dinner in Kirklin with their spouses.
The local Lions kicked off the month by teaming with Sheridan Youth Assistance, Mama’s Cupboard, and Sunflower Pantry to pass out food and gift cards to more than 340 Sheridan residents.
They later enjoyed visits from Sheridan High School’s girls basketball coach Jaidlin Bradshaw, who brought players along and shared both athletic and academic highlights from her team this season. The Lady Blackhawks are currently soaring high with a record of 12 wins and only three losses. The Lions also heard from Sheridan Elementary Principal Valerie Roberts, who spoke of students’ needs.
Staying true to their mission, the Lions created a fundraiser for the school that takes place during the current basketball season. The first fundraiser was held Dec. 14, and the second will take place this Saturday, Jan. 6, when the boys team hosts Rossville. The Lions Club will pay admission to the game in exchange for the donation of any of the following items: youth size socks, briefs, winter gloves and stocking caps.
Other donations accepted are Crayola crayons (24 pack), pink erasers, Expo markers (black chisel point), wide-ruled composition notebooks, Elmer’s glue sticks, and gallon- or quart-sized Ziploc bags.
