Playhouse plays host to author event

Viola Shipman is a pen name for award-winning memoirist Wade Rouse, who was recently at a well-attended book signing and talk at Basile Westfield Playhouse, 220 N. Union St., thanks to an event hosted by Turn the Page Books and Gifts, 149 N. Walnut St., Westfield.

According to Turn the Page Owner Jamie Degler, one of Rouse’s books is on track to become a major motion picture. Rouse chose his grandmother’s name, Viola Shipman, as a pen name to honor the working poor Ozarks woman whose heirlooms and family stories inspire his fiction.

You can learn more about the author online at ViolaShipman.com and WadeRouse.com.

Turn the Page’s next event will be a Holiday Preview Evening at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18 at their Westfield location. Learn more at TurnThePageWestfield.com.
