Noblesville Preservation Alliance creates new flea market fundraiser

The Noblesville Preservation Alliance (NPA) regretfully announces the cancellation of the 2020 Historic Home Tour, traditionally held each year on the third Saturday in September.

Sadly, this is not a time to allow large groups (however adoring and appreciative) inside private homes. This decision was made with great reluctance as NPA knows that many look forward to this annual event, and NPA depends on revenue generated by the Tour. However, the health and safety of the community must take precedence this year.

Happily, NPA will hold a wonderful outdoor event on Saturday, Sept. 19. The brilliant idea to replace the Home Tour with a neighborhood Flea Market was a creative response to stark reality, results of a salvage opportunity provided to NPA, and a desperate need to raise funds for Preservation Hall.

NPA purchased Preservation Hall, 1274 Logan St., last October to serve as agency headquarters and a community event venue. There is now a loan to repay and an exterior renovation to complete. Before the renovation can begin, NPA must raise $25,000 to match the City of Noblesville Façade Grant. This is a challenging for fundraising, but NPA believes the first annual (that’s the plan!) NPA Flea Market will be perfect for the times.

NPA Flea Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at select homes on Logan and Clinton streets and side sides in between. The Preservation Hall sale will include architectural salvage, other treasures and collectibles. Live music will be provided by John Gilmore, Mike Stewart and friends on the Preservation Hall porch.
