Nickel Plate Valentine’s Express to roll Feb. 12 & 13

Trains are often featured in romantic movies from the past, and the Nickel Plate Express will pay tribute to that history with two days of special family and adult Valentine’s Express excursions Feb. 12 and 13, departing out of Forest Park near downtown Noblesville.

Adult passengers will board the 1950s vintage rail equipment to experience one of the Nickel Plate Express’ two dining cars. Tickets for the 65-minute ride are $47 and include a Valentine’s Day mimosa and a sweet-and-savory treat box while listening to romantic music.

Family passengers will enjoy a sweet snack and beverage and make a card to give to someone on Valentine’s Day. Nickel Plate’s “I Heart Trains” mascot also will be on board for photo opportunities and a smile. Tickets are $28 and include a sweet treat, drink and Valentine’s card activity.

Both excursions depart at 1, 3 and 5 p.m., with boarding beginning 15 minutes before departure. Boarding will take place near the carousel in the park.

Please note that the Transportation Security Administration is requiring masks for passengers on rail lines through March 18. Guests are asked to wear a mask while boarding and unboarding, but not while dining or drinking.

The Nickel Plate Express is a program of the Nickel Plate Heritage Railroad, a charitable nonprofit that operates the historic Arcadia Depot and offers entertainment and educational excursions on historic train equipment out of Forest Park. The 12.5 miles of Nickel Plate Track is owned by the Hoosier Heritage Port Authority.
