Moms Demand Action recognize Devon Wellington for House District 29 as a Gun Sense Candidate

Devon Wellington, candidate for Indiana House District 29, has been named a 2026 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate. The distinction recognizes candidates who advocate for gun violence prevention and who will govern with gun safety in mind.

Moms Demand Action, a grassroots movement of the Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund, awards the Gun Sense Candidate distinction to campaigns that demonstrate a clear commitment to common-sense gun safety measures. The distinction signals to supporters, volunteers, and voters that a candidate will prioritize responsible, widely supported approaches to gun safety in office.

“As a mother with children in schools, this problem drove me to join the Noblesville Schools Safety Committee, which I’ve been proud to participate in going on four years,” said Wellington. “While I’m grateful for the many supports in our schools and community that make us safer, here in Noblesville we already know that we’re no exception to the rule that is, heartbreakingly, gun violence in our schools.”

Wellington’s work on school safety and gun violence prevention is part of her broader platform focused on public education, affordable healthcare, and affordable housing for Hoosiers across District 29.

“Moms Demand Action works towards reasonable and sensible protections for communities that the vast majority of Americans support,” Moms Demand Action organizers said. “In fact, I talked with a neighbor who told me he votes for a specific party based on wanting to preserve his right to bear arms. When I asked if he supported safe storage, red flag laws, background checks, and encouraging local communities to get involved in safety initiatives, he said he did so enthusiastically. I was able to tell him that we’re aligned. Americans overwhelmingly are. That’s why this candidate distinction is so important for District 29. It formalizes the commitment we have in this community to taking the responsible and widely supported steps to prioritize collective safety. I look forward to faithfully representing this majority supported initiative at the Statehouse.”
