Michael Joseph Witka, 74, Noblesville, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023, at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on October 10, 1949, in La Porte, Ind.
Michael had a 30-year corporate insurance career, that allowed him to pursue his passion to serve Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, and the Archdiocese of Indianapolis in business and risk management for 20-plus years. In addition to his servant leadership, he was a co-creator of the National Diocesan Risk Manager’s Forum. He was a devoted member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, a strong advocate of its school and a dedicated 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Michael was an avid reader who enjoyed fishing, writing, and attending the theater. He spent over a decade coaching his children’s soccer teams. Later in life he took great pride in being a devoted, loving, and funny grandpa. Michael had the ability to be serious and hilarious at the same time.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Charlene Witka; daughters, Kelly (Colin) Thomas and Kimberly (Johnathan) Tekippe; son, Richard (Andi) Witka; grandchildren, Evan, Caitlin, Cecelia, Josephine, Lucas, Thomas, and Raymond; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Witka; mother and stepfather, Frances (Jones) and Richard Thomas; brothers, Patrick, Daniel, and William Witka; and sister, Joann Byrd.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville, with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. lead by the Knights of Columbus. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 9900 E. 191st St., Noblesville, with Rev. Clayton Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Indianapolis.
