Joseph “Joe” Cotton

October 8, 1959 – September 22, 2026

Joseph “Joe” David Cotton, 66, Noblesville, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. He was born October 8, 1959, in Carmel, to Clifford and Helen Saksons-McClintock Cotton.

As a 1979 graduate of Carmel High School, Joe then began his career as a Chef for St. Vincent Hospital.

One of Joe’s many interests included attending festivals, shopping, spending time and researching family genealogy. He also enjoyed making crafts as he became skilled in creating greeting cards, hand-made with the Cricut crafting tool. Joe loved dogs, especially his beloved Mikey. Joe and Marvin Hairston were married March 18, 2016.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Doug Cotton, Harold Sakson, and Ramon “Ray” Saksons; and nephew, Scott Sakson.

Survivors include his husband, Marvin Hairston; brothers, Chris (Andrea) Cotton, Mike (Theresa) Cotton, Ed (Debbie) Sakson, and Hugo (Leslie) Sakson; sisters, Kathryn Cotton, Velta Houk (Peter Wenzel), and Lori Nelson; several nieces and nephews; and years of unconditional love from his lifelong friends, Claudia King (Eric Yason) and Bill (Suzanne) Leonard.

A Gathering of Joe’s family and friends will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Bussell Family Funerals, 1621 E. Greyhound Pass, Carmel.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be directed to the Humane Society for Hamilton County, 10501 Hague Road, Fishers, IN 46038.
