Indiana’s trick-or-treaters have 35 percent chance of getting candy corn

The Action Network uncovered the odds for what candy trick-or-treaters will get on Halloween.

Trick-or-treaters have a 22.52 percent chance of receiving candy corn. However, kids in some states are far more likely to receive the controversial candy corn than others.

Trick-or-treaters in Indiana have 35 percent odds of receiving candy corn, compared to the national average of 22 percent. Indiana ranks No. 6 out of 50.

The Action Network’s analysis took into consideration candy sales, trick-or-treating habits, candy preferences, and population density to make this (and other) tasty discoveries.

Fun findings

  • Mississippi trick-or-treaters are more likely to receive candy corn (45.53 percent chances) than anywhere else in the country.
  • 1.9 percent of unfortunate trick-or-treaters can expect to receive a toothbrush in their bucket.
  • Hawaii is the state where trick-or-treaters are least likely to receive the dreaded candy corn, with odds of only 11.3 percent.
  • A lot of trick or treaters, a whopping 66.83 percent, will score Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup – talk about hitting the candy jackpot!
  • Peanut M&Ms and Plain M&Ms are close runners-up, with 64.95 percent and 62.17 percent odds of ending up in your pumpkin and pillowcases.
