Huskies drop two close games

Hamilton Heights dropped two close games on the road this past weekend.

On Friday, Dec. 19, the Huskies fell at Western in overtime, 53-48. Heights led 21-12 after one quarter and 28-15 at halftime. But the Panthers came back, using a 22-point fourth quarter to tie the game by the end of regulation. Western outscored the Huskies 9-4 in the extra period.

Rees Knapp scored 20 points for Heights, with Jackson Mikesell scoring 11 points and pulling eight rebounds. Jack Kakasuleff also had 11 points and Austin Day collected seven rebounds.

The Huskies played at West Lafayette on Saturday, Dec. 20, with the Red Devils winning 76-72. Heights led 22-14 after the first period, but West Lafayette cut the lead to 38-33 by halftime. The Red Devils scored 23 points in the third and held off Heights in the fourth quarter.

Kakasuleff was the Huskies’ top scorer with 21 points. Will DeStefano had 13 points and Knapp scored 12. Day dished out nine assists.

Heights is 0-6 and hosts its own Holiday Tournament today. The Huskies play Covenant Christian at 10 a.m. for their first game.
