Blackhawks sweep doubleheader

Sheridan’s basketball teams traveled to Eastern on Friday, Dec. 19 and came home with two Hoosier Heartland Conference victories.

The Blackhawks won the girls game 54-32. Sheridan outscored the Comets in all four quarters, turning a 12-5 first-quarter lead into a 26-14 halftime advantage.

Brielle Garner led the Hawks with 24 points, including six 3-pointers, while Makenzy Terry scored 19 points.

Sheridan won the boys game just as easily, beating Eastern 80-47. The Blackhawks blasted out to a 27-9 first-quarter lead and were up 46-29 at halftime. Sheridan took further control in the third quarter, finishing that period with a 71-38 advantage.

Trey Page led the way with 23 points, draining five 3s. Devon Hamilton added 16 points and Brayden Whisman scored 10.

The Sheridan boys played at Frankfort on Saturday, Dec. 20 and won 79-50. Stats from that game were unavailable at press time.

The Sheridan girls are 2-1 in HHC play and 6-5 overall. The Blackhawks travel to Logansport for the Mike Anderson Automotive Group Holiday Tournament on Saturday, playing Lowell in their first game.

Sheridan’s boys are 3-0 in the conference and 5-0 overall and host their own Holiday Classic on Saturday. The Blackhawks play Lewis Cass in their first game.
