One man appears to have voted both in Carmel by absentee ballot and in Mesa, Ariz. by in-person early ballot in the 2020 general election.
Arizona was a battleground state in the 2020 general election and Maricopa County, in which Mesa sits, was particularly controversial during that election.
The Hamilton County Election Board held a hearing on Tuesday, Nov. 7 to determine if there was probable cause to refer the issue to the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office. The accused, Jeffrey Shelton, was not present but was represented at the hearing by Attorney Terry Monday from the law firm Monday McElwee Albright based in Broad Ripple.
Documents show Shelton registered to vote as a Republican in Maricopa County, Ariz., on April 4, 2019.
Shelton’s signed application to vote absentee in Indiana was dated Aug. 16, 2020. His Indiana ballot was received on Sept. 29, 2020, and marked as accepted. Then, on Oct. 15, 2020, Shelton was an early voter in Arizona.
The Election Board was unanimous in their agreement that there is probable cause to believe voter fraud was committed. All supporting documents have been referred to the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s office.
The complaining party in this case was a man from Texas who works with Look Ahead America, Inc., a controversial organization formed by a former Trump campaign staffer.
