Find magic with ‘Puffs’ at The Cat in Carmel

Christian Youth Theater (CYT) is excited to present Puffs (or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic) at The Cat, 254 Veterans Way, Carmel, from Feb. 11 through Feb. 20.

Taking place in the same world as the one featuring a certain glasses-wearing boy wizard, Puffs tells the story of other students at the same school of magic – the Puffs – who are not destined to save the world. It’s a story for anyone who ever felt like they weren’t the hero in their own story.

The production features two casts performing over two weekends. Cast members include students from Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville, Westfield and Zionsville.

Tickets for Puffs are $15 each and are available at cytindy.org.

“It’s a very comedic, light-hearted show. Fans of Harry Potter will love it, but you don’t need to be familiar with the books or movies in order to enjoy it,” said Natalie Kern, who plays four different roles in the production. The Carmel High School junior’s favorite role is Leann, who “is a little dumb, but very energetic and loveable.”

Vivienne Lyon, a sixth grader at St. Maria Goretti, plays six different roles. “I love playing Debbie, who is a house elf – it’s a lot of fun acting as a creature rather than a human. House elves tend to be very annoying, and I’ve enjoyed the role because of that.”

With continual laughs, Puffs is the perfect evening or afternoon out for families looking to share a laugh. Puffs will appear at The Cat in downtown Carmel.

“We’re thrilled to present such a humorous play that whole families can enjoy together,” said CYT Managing Director Julie Dunlap. “Our talented cast of young area actors look forward to bringing this magical story of underdogs to the stage.”

Puffs is the directorial debut of CYT veterans Jaala Berry and Abigail Drake.
