Coumba Kebe has announced her candidacy for Indiana State House District 29, bringing a people-centered perspective shaped by public health expertise and deep commitment to community wellbeing.

Kebe is a public health professional, small business owner, and consultant with nearly a decade of experience working with healthcare systems, providers, and families across Indiana. She holds a Master of Public Health and has devoted her career to improving care for seniors, people with disabilities, and families navigating complex health and social systems.

Indiana has a growing aging population, yet programs that support seniors and individuals with disabilities to remain safe in their homes and communities are being weakened rather than strengthened. Kebe sees the human impact of these policy decisions every day, both through her work and in her community.

“This is not abstract,” Kebe said. “These outcomes are the result of policy choices. I see the harm those choices cause, and my conscience no longer allows me to stand by while preventable suffering continues.”

At the heart of her campaign is a belief that government should focus on affordability, fairness, and accountability. Kebe is running to address the rising cost of utilities and ensure fair rates, strong consumer protections, and long-term affordability for families. She also supports sustainable housing solutions that expand attainable options, support homeownership, and ensure that Indiana’s growth works for the people who live and work here.

Healthcare policy is central to her platform. Kebe is committed to strengthening Indiana’s Medicaid programs by ensuring policy decisions are informed by data, grounded in real-world impact, and guided by transparency and clear communication. She emphasizes supporting caregivers and improving oversight, so seniors and families are not left without care due to system breakdowns or administrative failures.

Education funding and property tax fairness are also priorities. Kebe believes public education is essential to the future of Hamilton County and that schools should be fully supported by the resources they need. She supports restoring funding lost under recent property tax legislation so that local schools and governments can function without placing strain on families or educators.

Kebe’s public health training has shaped how she understands policy challenges as interconnected systems that require evidence-based solutions. She believes decisions affecting health, education, and economic wellbeing should be made transparently, with clear communication about data, assumptions, and tradeoffs.

“I am running because leadership must reflect lived experience, compassion, and accountability,” Kebe said. “Government should serve people, not party agendas. We must care for one another with dignity and fairness. I am excited to continue building this effort with neighbors across District 29. Their insight and expertise are essential to shaping solutions that truly work.”
