Kristina Moorhead announced her candidacy last Friday, Jan. 16 for Indiana Senate District 29, launching a campaign focused on lowering everyday costs, protecting families, and restoring accountable, people-centered leadership at the Statehouse.

Incumbent state Senator J.D. Ford announced earlier last week his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in Indiana’s 5th Congressional District.

“J.D. Ford’s dedication to the people of District 29 has been truly exceptional, and his service has set a high standard in the Indiana Legislature,” Moorhead said. “He has set a powerful example of leadership, and I hope to carry forward his legacy of putting Hoosiers first.”

Moorhead’s career in health advocacy has spanned the issues of family caregiving, Medicaid and healthcare affordability.

“I know how hardworking families are struggling just to get by,” she said. “Too many people can no longer afford the basics – groceries, rent, utilities, or healthcare – even when they’re doing everything right. It’s time for our government to stand with working Hoosiers, lower everyday costs, and make sure our economy works for everyone – not just those at the very top.”

Kristina Moorhead is a working wife and mom of three children residing in Carmel. Moorhead has worked on health policy in 23 states – inside government, with AARP, in the private sector, and as a consultant – giving her a clear view of what works, what doesn’t, and how decisions at the Statehouse affect families every day. She received a master’s degree in public affairs from Indiana University–Indianapolis and a bachelor’s degree in communications from Ball State University.

“As a proud Hoosier, I want Indiana to be a place where my children – and yours – choose to stay and build their futures,” Moorhead said. “I’m running to make that Indiana a reality.”
