Amy Summerfield, a longtime Hamilton County resident and experienced legal professional, has officially filed to run for Hamilton County Superior Court 3 in the May 5 Republican Primary.

Summerfield
Summerfield brings more than 20 years of legal experience spanning both civil and criminal law, with deep roots in Hamilton County government. She has spent her entire career in civil service, including having served as a clerk in Superior Court 3 and serving 14 years as a deputy prosecutor, approximately 11 of those years here in Hamilton County.
Currently, Summerfield serves as Legal Adviser to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, where she handles everything from contract review, employment law, civil litigation, preventative law, and policy development. Her work supports public safety initiatives, operational efficiency, and community-focused solutions.
“Voters deserve a judge who will defend the Constitution, uphold Indiana law, and protect our community,” Summerfield said. “As Hamilton County continues to grow, our justice system must evolve to meet new challenges – especially in addressing mental health.”
If elected, Summerfield’s top priority is to establish a Mental Health Court in Hamilton County to provide treatment-focused solutions for individuals whose mental health challenges contribute to their involvement in the justice system, helping reduce recidivism and strengthen public safety. Her extensive experience working on behavioral health projects and committees give her a deep understanding of the issues facing Hamilton County and the working relationships to create solutions.
“I am asking for your vote in the Republican Primary for Hamilton County Superior Court 3,” Summerfield said. “Together, we can ensure the fair administration of justice and secure Hamilton County for future generations.”
