The Carmel baseball team moved its win streak to four games on Thursday, beating McCutcheon 2-0 at Hartman Field.
The Greyhounds scored a run in the first inning, when Parker Heaney singled in Jay Stein. Max Walkey scored a fifth inning run after Stein hit a sacrifice fly.
It was a pitcher’s duel, as Carmel had four hits to the Mavericks’ two. Nolan Sunsdahl won the dual, striking out three in a complete-game effort. Nate Steele hit a double in the sixth inning for the ‘Hounds, with Stein and Jackson Harris both getting one hit.
The ‘Hounds are 12-7 and host Mooresville next Thursday.

University dropped an away game to Cathedral 6-4 on Thursday.
The Irish led 6-0 after five innings. The Trailblazers got on the board with two runs in the sixth inning: Parker Jacobs scored on Charlie Ranek’s RBI fielder’s choice, then Cooper Burnett doubled in Cooper Cammack.
University kept fighting, scoring two more runs in the seventh with two outs. Cammack doubled Griffin Wright home, then Beckett Suh drove in Cammack with a left field hit. A strikeout ended the game.
Cammack and Burnett both had two hits. Cole Stocker pitched five innings, with five strikeouts.
The Blazers are 11-9 and host Brebeuf Jesuit on Tuesday.

Westfield fell to Zionsville 11-5 in a Thursday HCC game at the Eagles’ field.
Zionsville scored eight runs in the first inning and another one in the second. Caden Lindsey got the Shamrocks on the board in the third inning by stealing home plate, then Beck Jordan scored on an error in the fourth inning.
The Eagles led 10-2 after four innings. Westfield scored three in the fifth: Caden Lindsey was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing in Nick Fero. Anthony Cimini scored on an error, then Johnny Ewing scored when Ethan Colling hit a sacrifice fly.
Jordan had two hits, while Colling hit a double in the fifth inning.
The ‘Rocks are 4-5 in conference play and 12-7 overall. They host Zionsville at 6 p.m. tonight to complete the series.

Fishers lost its first HCC game of the season Thursday, falling to Avon 7-0 in an away game.
The Orioles held the Tigers to three hits. Zander Carnahan hit a triple in the fourth inning, with Luke Cherry and Justin Brown both getting one hit.
Hayden Werner pitched 4.1 innings, throwing five strikeouts.
Fishers is 9-1 in conference play and 17-4 overall. The Tigers host New Castle at 6:30 p.m. tonight.

Hamilton Heights lost an away game at Lapel 10-3 on Thursday.
The Huskies scored the first runs of the game, with two in the top of the third inning. Kaden Lawson singled in Logan Hickman and Nick Hulen with a right field hit. The Bulldogs tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the third.
Heights took a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning; Tyson Upchurch scored when Luke Davis reached on an error. But Lapel scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth and held the lead from there.
The Huskies were held to four hits, including Josh Newton’s sixth-inning double. Hulen and Hickman both had one hit.
Heights is 6-11 and plays tonight at Shelbyville. First pitch is 6 p.m.
