Community comes together in big way to help Strothkamp family of Carmel

On Dec. 21, Mark Strothkamp of Carmel unexpectedly passed away after suffering a sudden stroke.

Within hours, the community was already rallying around his family – wife Meg and two children, Ainsley and Braedy – and a GoFundMe was organized to pay for his children’s educational expenses, as well as health care expenses related to his passing.

A goal was set at $100,000, and as of Tuesday night, a total of 458 donors had contributed over $87,316 – including one anonymous donation of $10,000.

Strothkamp was a coach at Hoosier FC, a soccer club located at 6910 E. 161st St., Noblesville. His wife Meg serves as the General Manager and Club Administrator.

According to HoosierFC.com/clubinfo:

“Mark played collegiate soccer for the U.S. Naval Academy (DI) and Loyola University Chicago (DI). At Loyola Chicago, Mark was team captain, earned several accolades including NSCAA All-Midwest Region Team, Midwestern Collegiate Conference First Team All-Conference and All-Newcomer Teams and was voted Loyola Chicago’s Male Student-Athlete of the Year. Mark served as an assistant coach at Loyola Chicago from 1994 to 1996 and then participated in the inaugural MLS draft combine in 1996. Mark has coached at HFC since 2014. Mark holds a USSF National C License and RMA Technical Diplomas – Levels 100-400.”
