Kimberly Fague, secretary of the Tipton Community School Corporation (TCSC) Board of School Trustees, has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Indiana School Boards Association (ISBA) Region 5 Outstanding School Board Member Award, recognizing her exceptional leadership and dedication to students, staff, and the Tipton community.
The regional Outstanding Board Service Award honors school board members from across Indiana each year who have demonstrated above-and-beyond service to their school corporation and community. The regional award winners are recognized at the annual ISBA/IAPSS Fall Conference at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.
Throughout her tenure on the board, Fague has distinguished herself through thoughtful leadership, attention to detail, and a commitment to transparency.
“Kim exemplifies the qualities of an outstanding school board member,” TCSC Board President Robert Cochrane II said. “She approaches every decision with integrity, preparation, and a genuine desire to do what is best for students. Her leadership has strengthened our board, enhanced communication with our community, and helped ensure that Tipton schools remain focused on excellence.”
One of Fague’s most impactful contributions has been her work to improve communication between the school board and the community. Recognizing that many residents could not attend meetings or review lengthy minutes, she initiated the creation of concise board meeting summaries that provide clear, accessible updates on key discussions and decisions. The initiative has helped keep parents, staff, and community members informed while strengthening public trust in the board’s work. She also developed a comprehensive community calendar that brings together school events and activities hosted by local organizations.
Beyond attending meetings, Fague is widely recognized as a visible and engaged supporter of TCSC. She regularly attends athletic competitions, student performances, academic ceremonies, and community events. As the elected representative for Madison Township, she works diligently to listen to constituents and ensure their perspectives are thoughtfully considered in board discussions and decisions.
A notable example of her initiative and resourcefulness was the restoration of the swimming and diving record boards in the Tipton Community Schools Aquatic Center. She helped complete the project at a fraction of the anticipated cost while honoring generations of student-athletes and preserving an important part of the district’s history. Her efforts demonstrated both fiscal responsibility and a commitment to recognizing student achievement.
Colleagues describe Fague as a servant leader who consistently volunteers wherever help is needed. She is admired for bringing energy, creativity, and compassion to everything she does.
“What sets Kim apart is she understands that effective school board service is about more than policy and governance,” Superintendent Scott Jaworski said. “It is about building relationships and strengthening the connection between schools and the community. She is well-deserving on this honor.”
The selection of Kimberly Fague as the 2026 ISBA Region 5 Outstanding School Board Member reflects her lasting contributions to TCSC. Through her leadership, volunteerism, and dedication to community engagement, she embodies the highest ideals of public service.
