Community members are invited to tee off for inclusion on Wednesday, Aug. 26, as Special Olympics Hamilton County (SOHC) holds its annual Golf Outing at Fox Prairie Golf Course, 8465 E. 196th St., Noblesville.
Registration and the driving range open at 10 a.m., with the shotgun start slated for 11 a.m. Dinner, silent auction, and awards will follow play.
The fundraiser benefits more than 500 local athletes with intellectual disabilities, helping provide year-round sports training, athletic competition, leadership opportunities, and health initiatives at no cost to athletes or their families.
As the largest Special Olympics county program in Indiana, SOHC offers more than 15 sports for athletes ages 8 to 80 and beyond. Every uniform, piece of equipment, tournament entry, and athletic opportunity is funded through local sponsors, donors, grants, and community support. Every dollar raised through the Golf Outing stays in Hamilton County to support local athletes and their families.
Easterhaus
“Special Olympics is one of the few places where differences aren’t just accepted, they’re celebrated,” SOHC Coordinator Danyele Easterhaus said. “It’s where athletes find teammates who become lifelong friends, families find community, and people discover what they’re capable of. As both the mother of a Special Olympics athlete and the sister of two brothers with disabilities, I’ve seen firsthand that these opportunities change lives. Every dollar raised helps ensure our athletes continue to have a place where they belong.”
Community members are encouraged to register a foursome, become a sponsor, volunteer, or make a donation. Proceeds from the outing directly support sports training, competition, uniforms, equipment, coach and volunteer development, and athlete leadership opportunities throughout the year.
