Tipton High School sophomore Abby Lacy recently completed her first season performing with One Light Performance Arts, culminating in an appearance at Winter Guard International Finals. Her achievement reflects both her personal dedication and the strong foundation she built through TCSC’s performing arts programs.

Lacy began winter guard in sixth grade, returned in eighth grade for a season she describes as one of her most memorable, and continued to develop her skills through Tipton’s marching and winter programs. This fall, with encouragement from coaches Rocky Teutle and Shaley Davis, she auditioned for her first independent winter guard – a significant step for any young performer.

Throughout the season, Lacy drew on the instruction, mentorship, and performance opportunities she received at Tipton. She credits a long list of individuals who supported her growth, including Joshua Fullerton, Shaley Davis, Rocky Teutle, Keegan Pollard, Ms. Wallyn, Addie Davis, Cassie Simmons, Reid Scholz, Paul Yoo, John and Erin Hughes, and her family.

Her home team at Tipton continued to excel in festival class, earning a solid gold season, while Lacy gained valuable experience performing at the national level.

Tipton’s color guard coach, Shaley Davis, added, “I’m so glad Abby has found such a passion for Color Guard and it’s amazing to see her balance her responsibilities as a student and performer in the WGI circuit.”

Lacy’s journey highlights the impact of TCSC’s commitment to student opportunity – from early exposure in middle school to advanced pathways that allow students to pursue their passions at the highest levels.

She hopes to continue performing next winter, building on a season she describes as “insane in the best way.”
