Tigers start strong, beat LN to stay perfect

Another good start led to another big win for Fishers.

The Class 4A No. 1 Tigers poured in 24 points during its first quarter at Lawrence North on Tuesday and Fishers carried that momentum to a 75-59 victory. The defending 4A state champions improved to 22-0 for the season with that victory.

The Tigers held the Wildcats to 10 points in that first quarter. Meanwhile, Jason Gardner Jr. and JonAnthony Hall each scored six points, with Cooper Zachary adding five. Fishers led 35-21 at halftime, with Hall getting five more points in the second quarter.

Lawrence North cut into the Tigers’ lead slightly during the third quarter, scoring 28 points to Fishers’ 23 points. Nathan Baker scored 11 points for the Tigers, helping to keep them ahead 58-49 going into the fourth. Fishers outscored LN 17-10 in that fourth period, with Baker adding another eight points.

Baker finished as the leading scorer with 21 points. Gardner added 15 and Hall scored 12. Logan Sigler had nine points.

The Tigers return to the Tiger Den on Friday to play Zionsville in their Hoosier Crossroads Conference finale.
