Westfield second graders at Monon Trail Elementary School recently took a field trip to Moore Road Farm, 8407 Moore Road, Indianapolis. They learned about ecosystems and engineering as a career. They discussed that many animals are engineers (the spider’s web, the bees’ hive, the bird’s nest, beaver’s dam, etc.). The students got to create a bee hive, see bees at work, and even make their own “squirrel’s” nest out of material found on the farm.
