Scott Willis, Mayor-elect of Westfield, has selected Jenell Fairman to be his Economic Development Director.
“Jenell Fairman brings an abundance of experience to this role,” Willis said. “She is a highly-skilled engineer with an extensive background in commercial real estate, property development, project and design management, financing, and bid processes. I am grateful and thrilled to have her joining my team.”
As Economic Development Director, Fairman will focus on quality, sustainability, and community connectivity in Westfield. This includes fostering economic growth, job creation, and a better quality of life with the goal of creating a diverse and resilient local economy.
“I am thrilled to be joining the City of Westfield to support Mayor-Elect Willis and the rest of the new administration in the continued economic growth of Westfield,” Fairman said. “This role provides a great opportunity to combine my redevelopment experience at the City of Carmel with my engineering consulting background. Building on the walkability of the Westfield downtown master plan, convenient access to US 31 and the tourism draw of Grand Park, the Westfield community can expect to see an updated economic development plan focused on a variety of housing options, hospitality, high tech industrial, and commercial investments.”
As mentioned frequently on the campaign trail, smart economic development was at the forefront of Willis’ conversations with voters. As such, Willis said it was important to him – and the rest of his transition team – to ensure the position of Economic Development Director was filled by a highly-skilled individual with well-rounded competencies who could hit the ground running immediately.
Fairman currently serves as Deputy Director of Redevelopment for the City of Carmel and will begin this new role with the City of Westfield on Jan. 1, 2024, when Willis takes office.
