Tigers take second at Unified track, qualify for state

The Fishers Unified track team will be returning to the state finals.

The Tigers earned their place by taking second at the Kokomo regional on Saturday, May 30. Pendleton Heights won the meet with 125 points, followed by Fishers and its 118 points. The host Wildkats took third with 115 points and Lafayette Jefferson was fourth with 114 points.

The top four teams advance to the state finals, which take place this Saturday, June 6 at North Central.

The Tigers scored seven section wins. In the relays, the girls 4×100 team of Ava Smith, Mira Warnick, Rosella Stucker and Sarah Maudlin won Section 2 in 1 minute, 0.43 seconds. The Fishers 4×100 boys relay team also won Section 2, with Stephen Krokos, Ryder Thomasson, Jackson Keller and Caleb Milner clocking in at 49.00 seconds.

Aaron Schooley won Section 5 of the 100 dash with a time of 11.29 seconds, as well as Section 5 of the 400 dash in 54.69 seconds. Carter Schmidt won Section 4 of the 400 dash, finishing in 1:02.53.

Lou Strycker was first in Flight 2 of the long jump with a leap of 7 feet, 10.75 inches. Nolan Kuhn won Flight 5 of the shot put with a top throw of 47 feet.
